Class Activities and Assignments :

Monday, October 12, 2015:  Students viewed two introductory videos--one about Gothic elements found in literature of the Victorian Age (including Jane Eyre), the other about the life of Charlotte Bronte and her sisters.

Tuesday, October 13, 2015:  Class began with a review of the previous week's multiple-choice practice content, questions, and correct answers.  Students then completed their viewing of the introductory video about the Bronte sisters and received copies of Jane Eyre.  Students began reading the first chapter of the novel.  Students are to complete reading the first chapter before class tomorrow.

Wednesday, October 14, 2015:  Students took notes over setting and plot as bell work. Some classes completed their viewing of the video from Monday and Tuesday. The previous day's reading was discussed and students received a study guide and graphic organizer for Chapters I-X.  Students are to complete reading the second chapter of Jane Eyre before class tomorrow.

Thursday, October 15, 2015:  Students completed a short reading quiz as bell work, and then briefly discussed the second chapter of Jane Eyre.  The teacher began the reading assignment with the students and they continued, reading silently.  As homework, students are to read through Chapter IV of Jane Eyre, and begin completion of the study guide questions/graphic organizer over Chapters I-X.

Monday, October 19, 2015:  Students began class by revisiting the steps of PLOTTSS with the teacher guiding heir practice. A discussion of Jane Eyre, Chapter IV followed. Students are to complete their PLOTTSS notes over "A Poison Tree," (due Wednesday) and read Chapters V-VI of Jane Eyre by the start of class tomorrow.

Tuesday, October 20, 2015:  Students picked up a "Jane's Experience of Vengeance" sheet at the start of class, and then completed a practice ACT Reading test.  With the little time remaining in class, students briefly discussed the previous night's reading.  By the start of class tomorrow, students are to have the PLOTTSS notes over "A Poison Tree" and the questions over "Jane's Experience of Vengeance" completed.  Students are also to read Chapters VII-VIII of Jane Eyre by that time.

Wednesday, October 21, 2015:  Students entered class and showed the teacher their work on the "A Poison Tree" PLOTTSS task and answers to the questions over Chapter IV.  Students viewed their results from the practice ACT Reading test from the day before, and the teacher provided some special hints and helps.  The teacher also reviewed ACT Resources available on the class website, and then the class began reading Chapter IX of Jane Eyre.  As homework, students are to read through the end of Chapter X of Jane Eyre this evening, and begin completion of the first study guide questions and graphic organizer.

Thursday, October 22, 2015:  Students took a practice ACT Science test, and briefly discussed their reading assignment.  As homework, students are to read Chapters XI-XII, and complete the first study guide and graphic organizer--both are due at the start of class tomorrow.

Friday, 0ctober 23, 2015:  Students (except in first period) turned in their Chapter I-X study guide and graphic organizer work, then reviewed information about the ACT Science Reasoning test.  Students are to read through Chapter XIV (fourteen) of Jane Eyre by Monday.
