Class Activities and Assignments for AP English Lit. & Comp. (all periods):

Tuesday, January 20, 2015:  Students began a study of literary terms as bell work.  Because today's reading assignment is rather lengthy, students were given the rest of class time to read Jane Eyre.  As homework, students are to continue reading according to the assigned schedule and continue work on the study guide and graphic organizer that will both be due at the start of class THURSDAY.

Wednesday, January 21, 2015:  Students completed the paraphrasing step of the new PLOTTSS poem as bell work.  The teacher then guided students through the poem, allowing for corrections to the paraphrasing work they did independently.  Due to many school business absences in most classes, students had the remainder of class to read Jane Eyre, and complete the second study guide/graphic organizer.  All study guide/graphic organizer work is due at the start of class tomorrow.

Thursday, January 22, 2015:  Students turned in the second Jane Eyre study guide and picked up the third study guide for the novel--it will be due at the start of class next Tuesday.  Students read information about Victorian governesses, and then the class discussed that reading in the context of the novel and Jane's behavior as a governess.  Following the discussion, students had time to read.  As homework, students are to continue reading according to the assigned schedule.

Friday, January 23, 2015:  Students completed mid-year STAR Reading Assessments as bell work.  Students then had time to continue reading Jane Eyre and working on their study guides and graphic organizers.  As homework, students are to continue reading the novel according to the assigned schedule and working on the study guide and graphic organizer, as well as PLOTTSS notes.
