Class Activities and Assignments for AP English Lit. & Comp. (all periods):

Tuesday, September 2, 2014:  Students entered class and got their copies of "The Black Walnut Tree" essay prompt and general AP essay scoring guide.  The teacher introduced AP scoring and reviewed several guidelines with the class.  Students used class time to read through and score nine essay responses to the poetry analysis task.  In classes where time allowed, students discussed their findings.   Students in the afternoon classes revised their essay responses as well. There is no homework assigned for tonight (as many students will be out of town late this evening).

Wednesday, September 3, 2014:  Students completed a practice ACT English test.  As homework, students are to complete PLOTTSS notes over "Ozymandias"--this work is due at the start of class FRIDAY.

Thursday, September 4, 2014:  Students reviewed their practice ACT English test performance and the teacher began an in-depth review of tips and hints for better ACT English scores.  Students completed a final non-graded round of AP Exam multiple-choice practice before the end of class.  As homework, students are to finish taking PLOTTSS notes over "Ozymandias."  The notes will be due at the start of class tomorrow.

Friday, September 5, 2014:  Students turned in their PLOTTSS notes over "Ozymandias" and spent the rest of class reviewing the rest of the ACT English practice test and yesterday's multiple-choice practice.

Monday, September 8, 2014:  Students completed a practice ACT Science Reasoning test, and reviewed their answers, along with tips and hints for improving scores.

Tuesday, September 9, 2014:  Students reported to the auditorium for a presentation given by the counseling staff.

Wednesday, September 10, 2014:  Students completed a practice ACT Reading test.

Thursday, September 11, 2014:  Students completed their first of three STAR Reading assessments for the year.  Students then reviewed tips and strategies for greater success with the Science Reasoning and Reading tests of the ACT.  As homework, the teacher challenged students to take a full ACT math test (two tests have been linked above) this evening.  This is an optional assignment and is not for a grade.
