Current Class Activities & Assignments for English III-A (Pds. 1, 2, & 3):

 

Monday, April 30, 2012:  Students read Chapter Six of The Great Gatsby; Chapters 5-6 study guide answers will be due at the start of class tomorrow.

 

Tuesday, May 1, 2012:  Students read a bit more than half of Chapter Seven of The Great Gatsby.  Students turned in Chapter 5-6 study guide answers at the start of class.

 

Wednesday, May 2, 2012:  Students finished the reading of Chapter Seven, then had remaining class time to complete their answers to the Chapter 7 study guide questions.

 

Thursday, May 3, 2012:  Students turned in their Chapter Seven work, then read Chapter Eight of The Great Gatsby.  Some classes began reading Chapter Nine.  Chapters Eight-Nine study guide work will be due at the end of class tomorrow.

 

Friday, May 4, 2012:  Students finished the reading, reviewed for the test on Monday, and completed study guide work.

 

Monday, May 7, 2012:  Students reviewed then completed a comprehensive test over The Great Gatsby.  Students then watched a couple of film clips.

 

Tuesday, May 8, 2012:  Students looked at their Gatsby test results, completed a new weekly vocabulary lesson, and watched a bit more of the Gatsby film.

 

Wednesday, May 9, 2012:  Students concluded their viewing of the Gatsby film.

 

Thursday, May 10, 2012:  Students received ACTAAP scores and discussed results.  Students considered what constitutes science fiction.  Students are to study vocabulary for tomorrow's quiz.

 

 

Current Class Activities & Assignments for APE Lit. (Pds. 4, 6, & 7):

 

 

Monday, April 30, 2012:  Students entered class and reviewed answers to the previous week's multiple-choice practice.  Some students turned in synthesis papers.  Classes then read as much of Act III of A Doll House as time allowed.  Fourth period students will conclude their reading of Act III in class tomorrow; sixth and seventh period students need to finish reading the play independently due to class not meeting tomorrow (Spring Fling).

 

Tuesday, May 1, 2012:  Students in fourth period read most of Act III of A Doll House.  Students in sixth and seventh periods attended Spring Fling; all students are to have finished reading all of the play before returning to class.

 

Wednesday, May 2, 2012:  Students worked on theme analysis with A Doll House.

 

Thursday, May 3, 2012:  Students completed a timed writing over A Doll House and received copies of the Awesome Packet.  Students are to read through the packet completely before Monday.  THE SYNTHESIS PAPER FINAL COPY IS DUE TOMORROW (ALONG WITH BOOKS AND OTHER MATERIALS)!

 

Friday, May 4, 2012:  Students completed and reviewed a poetry analysis multiple-choice practice.  For the weekend, students are to read the entire Awesome Packet.

 

Monday, May 7, 2012:  Students who attended class completed a multiple-choice practice and reviewed material from the Awesome Packet.

 

Tuesday, May 8, 2012:  Students who attended class completed a multiple-choice practice and reviewed material from the Awesome Packet.

 

Wednesday, May 9, 2012:  Students who attended class reviewed material from the Awesome Packet and listened to final bits of advice from the teacher.

 

Thursday, May 10, 2012:  As this was the AP English Literature & Composition Exam day, students from fourth period did not attend class.  Afternoon students celebrated completion of the test and took the principal's exit survey.
