Current Class Activities & Assignments for English III-A (Pds. 1, 2, & 3):

 

Monday, April 16, 2012:  Students completed weekly word study exercises and viewed a biography of F. Scott Fitzgerald.

 

Tuesday, April 17, 2012:  Students completed an anticipation guide and other pre-reading activities, then began reading Chapter One of The Great Gatsby.

 

Wednesday, April 18, 2012:  Students continued reading Chapter One of The Great Gatsby.

 

Thursday, April 19, 2012:  Students continued reading Chapter One of The Great Gatsby.

 

Friday, April 20, 2012:  Students continued reading Chapter One of The Great Gatsby.

 

Monday, April 23, 2012:  Students studied, completed last week's vocabulary quiz, and then completed STAR Reading assessments.

 

Tuesday, April 24, 2012:  Students reviewed Chapter One of The Great Gatsby, then read Chapter Two.  Students completed and turned in study guide questions for both chapters.

 

Wednesday, April 25, 2012:  Students read Chapter Three of The Great Gatsby.

 

Thursday, April 26, 2012:  Students read Chapter Four of The Great Gatsby, and turned in study guide responses for Chapters 3-4.


Friday, April 27, 2012:  Students read Chapter Five of The Great Gatsby.

 

 

Current Class Activities & Assignments for APE Lit. (Pds. 4, 6, & 7):

 

Monday, April 16, 2012:  Students began taking notes over Tone and Theme analysis/elements.  Students received many reminders about upcoming events (AP administrative session for all exams, changes to the calendar, etc.) and are to finish major work #4 paragraphs and "The Rocking Horse Winner" reading as homework.

 

Tuesday, April 17, 2012:  Periods 4 & 7 finished taking notes and Period 6 attended the Administrative Session for Advanced Placement Testing.  All students turned in their fourth major work synthesis paper paragraphs.  As homework, all students are to read "Miss Brill" (the story begins on page 182 of the big blue literature anthology).

 

Wednesday, April 18, 2012:  Students received rough draft portions back with notes, and students worked on noting devices used in "Miss Brill" that help to construct theme.

 

Thursday, April 19, 2012:  Students turned in their first minor work rough draft paragraphs for the synthesis paper.  Students completed their independent study timed writing tasks.

 

Friday, April 20, 2012:  Students completed and reviewed another round of multiple-choice practice.  Students are to continue working on rough draft portions of the synthesis paper.

 

Monday, April 23, 2012:  Students turned in the second minor work rough draft paragraphs for the synthesis paper.  Students reviewed their responses to the anticipation guides for A Doll House.

 

Tuesday, April 24, 2012:  Students received rough draft writings with notes.  Students took notes on crafting conclusions to their synthesis papers, then began reading Act I of A Doll House.

 

Wednesday, April 25, 2012:  Students turned in the third minor work rough draft paragraphs, and continued reading Act I of A Doll House.  Students are to finish reading Act I as homework. 

 

Thursday, April 26, 2012:  Students received rough draft work back with notes, and reviewed formatting guidelines for final copies of the synthesis paper.  Some classes began reading Act II of A Doll House

 

Friday, April 27, 2012:  Students turned in synthesis paper conclusion rough drafts, and received them back during class.  Final instructions about turning in the final copy of the synthesis paper were reviewed, then students resumed reading A Doll House.  Students are to work on their synthesis paper final drafts and read the rest of Act II of A Doll House.
